From Dr. Irfan Ullah, medical adviser for the Durable Solutions Project in Pakistan, which helps vulnerable Afhgan refugees improve their lives while in exile and smooths their return home to Afghanistan:

'The man sitting on the tricycle is Malik Ziauddin, resident of a poor Afghan refugee community in Peshawar.

Long ago while he was digging a water well for his community he fell into the well and was injured in the spinal cord, which left him paralyzed.

He is the only bread earner of his family, which includes his wife and three daughters. Due to his disability, he was unable to go out and earn for his family.

The Durable Solutions Project identified him as vulnerable and provided him a tricycle. Now he is able to go out and work.'
